Replicas made as earrings in bronze or silver.
The original from the early viking
age (8-900 AD) is cast in bronze and was found in
the viking town Kaupang near Larvik. It was part
of a decoration on a buckle, two rams are placed
against each other with a crownlike bud in
between. The long horns give the figure a special
artistic touch in line with the style of that
time.
The brooch was used by women to keep
the dress together at the neck. This unique
design is rare but also known from the viking
town Birka in Sweden
