The Oseberg Queen was buried with
her lavishly decorated ship 834 AD. She brought with her a large
range of useful artifacts: a cart, four sledges, several horses,
tent, food and assorted farming and kitchen tools. She was well
prepared for her journey into life after death.
Among the the farming tools were a
dungfork and several spades. Two of these have been miniaturized
perfectly suited for use as as a salad serving set. They correspond to
the originals in shape, only
smaller.
The length of
the wooden salad
serving set is approx 29 cm.
The original farming tools are displayed in the Vking Ship Museum
in Oslo. |
